Only God is perfect...

Last year I went to a Quilt show with my mother, with several of the quilts being of Amish origin. The quilts were lovely and showed very detailed work.

I thought I was being smart by pointing out errors like the one below, where the centre feature looks like it is missing a red square. Mum informed me that as the Amish believe that only God is perfect, each quilt has a deliberate error.

I liked the thought, it gives a convenient out for any knitting error, especially the ones you don't notice until you've gone 20 rows past it! I also think that it can apply when it comes to blogging regularly as well!

I also got an insight into the devious minds of quilters. We went to a few different craft places that Mum wanted to check out (and Greta's wool shop in Lindfield for me) before Mum suggested Patchwork Products. Mum said it might be a bit tricky to get to, but I brushed it away thinking how hard can it be to find a shop? However, when we ended up in a residential street ending in a cul-de-sac I did question the directions. "Oh, its just a shed in someone's backyard" Mum tells me. Which indeed it was, tucked around the back along with the caravan
and small boat. Now Mum had been quite honest about what we were doing and Dad was happy to sit in the car with the paper. While we were browsing another woman came in and stated that she hadn't meant to come in and she couldn't stay long as she had left her husband in the car. Now this location was not one you 'just pass by', so I'm not sure what she had actually told her husband, especially when she took her purchases back to the car. Or maybe it was easier for her to justify her 'addiction' if the purchase was accidental.
